About the Author
For more than three decades, Tommy Carter has enjoyed real estate sales as an agent, a sales manager, and a company owner. As a manager and as a company owner, he has personally trained hundreds of new and experienced real estate agents to list and sell real estate. Through trial and error, he has compiled a collection of sample real estate letters that work, and they are now available for use "as is" or with only slight, personal modification.
In real estate, Mr. Carter favors direct mail over other forms of marketing and advertising, because prospects can be targeted more efficiently and with precision. For example, it is less expensive to mail your message to a few hundred targeted prospects than to pay to reach 100,000 newspaper readers or television viewers who may or may not be qualified for or interested in your message.
Target marketing by direct mail is ideal for real estate prospecting, because real estate is local, and specific neighborhoods, even specific people, whether in or not in those neighborhoods, can be reached efficiently. His best-selling e-book, Professional Real Estate Letters, contains 149 sample letters for real estate agents to use in prospecting and follow-up.
And prospecting, Mr. Carter says, is the most important activity in a successful real estate agent's game plan. His popular e-book, Real Estate Prospecting, is a must-have reference for all serious real estate agents. It contains 40 tested prospecting ideas.

Now that junk mail is more likely to clog your email account than your home mailbox, he is even more enthusiastic about the effectiveness of direct mail. In today's environment, your letter or postcard really stands out in a much smaller stack of daily mail.
Mr. Carter holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
